The controversy over the false information was resolved with an apology after about 10 days, but the consequences were significant. The ‘Newsroom’ video, which was posted on JTBC News’s official YouTube channel for about a week, recorded a whopping 860,000 views and about 74 articles citing the video (searched with the keywords ‘Suga’, ‘JTBC’, and ‘CCTV’) (Based on articles posted on the Naver portal)

The impact on various large-scale communities can’t be ignored either. The number of views on community posts citing the video and screenshots of ‘Newsroom’ has exceeded 1 million.

This is the third time JTBC has published false information about HYBE singers. ‘Newsroom’ reported in a December 2019 broadcast that BTS members were considering legal action against their management company, Big Hit Music, over profit distribution. But this is also not true.

In June this year, the subtitles were distorted when interviewing a Japanese audience member who visited NewJeans’ Tokyo Dome fan meeting in Japan through the official channel.
