Park Jin Young frankly talks about why JYP doesn’t operate like HYBE
“I first founded the company back in 1997 and it has been 26 years. What I put the most effort into during these 26 years was to create a culture within the company. Being transparent, healthy, and participating in interest groups within the company so that healthy employees positively affect artists, flat and non-hierarchical, things like that.
We worked so hard to have that culture settle within our company but acquiring a different company would mean that culture cannot be maintained. Another issue is who controls the IP. I know in the U.S. it’s a different story than here in Korea, however, I think it’s really difficult to contractually tease out, although HYBE seems doing well.”
