Rosé’s ‘APT’ controversy? Criticized by the Malaysian Government for “promoting bad influence from the West”
Controversy is erupting after the Malaysian Ministry of Health labeled the world-famous song ‘APT’ by Rosé and Bruno Mars as ‘harmful music’.
The Malaysian Ministry of Health recently raised the issue through its official SNS account with the question, “Have you heard of ‘APT’ by Rosé and Bruno Mars?”
The Malaysian Ministry of Health pointed out, “In the song, the phrase ‘apartment’ is used as a place of temptation, normalizing the behavior in the song that contradicts Eastern cultural values.”
They continued, “What is even more worrying is that this song is often used in social media videos and is infiltrating our daily lives. “In particular, there is a possibility that children may be singing along to these lyrics unconsciously,” they added.
“As parents, educators, and members of society, we must be cautious about indiscriminately accepting the influence of Western culture,” they added.
